EKS would probably be released already but we had some life issues and I
got a little burned out. I do expect to finish though we're close. We're
beating on the computer AI aspect and when I try I do make headway.
Discussions like this always makes me feel more like gettin' 'er done too.

than we expected. Just as a sneak peak though for EKS:
Expanding known Space uses a 20 by 20 game board with 40 planets
spaced at random with random hazards just like in TKS. You are given
control of three of these planets at the beginning as is the computer.
You have a turn that runs in phases: you collect money, buy units,
move units, resolve combats, and then place units. This is a
simplification but gives an idea. Unlike SOUND RTS or Time of
Conflict, purchasing units is an instantaneous process, though you
can't place them til the end of the turn you buy them on. The board
is hidden until you find items with ships, and you have five classes
of combat ships and colony ships you can build from interceptors up to
battleships. Different ships have different movement, attack, and
defense characteristics. It's a fairly simple combat system. The
game is going to have a lot of hot key support to help deal with the
map which is difficult if you have a lot of ships moving etc, and
you'll have the ability to group ships into fleets for easier
management.

Aaron and I are in the process of developing a space based strategy
game that is somewhat based on similar principles, but it's closer in
feel to Axis and Allies than to Risk. It's also not completed yet.
We're not even to beta testing. However, we're hoping to get it done
