It isn't true on my 05 Chrysler. Counter-clock-wise loosens all 4 wheels.
However, it is true on my dad's 2000 Freightliner. I do not recall which
side turns which way either.

Subject: [BlindHandyMan] lug nut directions

Hi all,
Actually Chrysler is the culprit for this one.
The lug nuts on a Chrysler product are designed so that the rotation of the
wheel will not tend to cause the lug nut to loosen.
I don't happen to have a handy Chrysler type vehicle to go see which
direction the lug nuts turn on which side of the car.
I also do not know if this is still tru of Chrysler products but it started
way back in the Forties or early Fifties I believe.

Robert, on my work bench is an old but sturdy 4 way lug wrench. it has
three sizes of lugs and one , or the fourth one is the pry bar setup .
it was great for changing tires on a old I think 1970 something
Plymouth Fury my father in law had. I got new hemorriods trying to
change the tire until I found out Plymouth turned the opposite way to
remove the lugs. Now I save that work for the kids. Lee
