The last I recall, Amsoil said you could change your oil every 25,000  
miles. I've been changing the oil once a year and the filter every six  
months. I've not had any problems, bu my wife doesn't put more than  
12,000 miles a year on our Jeep. Most manufacturers are now saying  
even with conventional oil, you do not need to change it, but every  
7,500 miles. Oil is cheap, but that's not the point as much as putting  
in the bes possible oil. I still believe an oil change is more based  
on driving habits, amount of driving, and factors of that nature.
