Before you invest a lot of money in switching out all the bulbs in your house, I would just try one or two out first. I put one in my basement, one in my laundry room, one in my bathroom, and one in my dining room - they all burnt out within one year and I do not have voltage spikes in my area. So, for the price you for these bulbs versus standard bulbs, I don't see anything "green" about them.
