not recommended for ceiling fans, here is a FAQ from GE concerning these
bulbs.

I bought a pack of 3 at wal-mart and put them in our fan-light. One burned 
out about 3 or 4 months later. I took them out, replacing with 3 
conventional bulbs and put the remaining 2 in the living room end table 
lamps. Those don't get much use.
