Tom, We are talking about finding angles for cutting moldings and such, or floor boards possibly in this case. A level won't really do this. Also, unless you have found something new, none of the electronic levels that we know of, talk, so are not all that useful to blinks.
People have described the RotoRule, and ClickRule to you. The big difference is measuring accuracy. The RotoRule can pretty accurately measure down to 1/64, where the ClickRule and Talking Tape Measures only go down to 1/16 of an inch. also, I personally think the talking tape measure isn't that accurate. I know I have bumped the tape and moved it in and it repeats the same measurement, but I know it moved a sixteenth. I have a set of angle blocks from Lee Valley and I use these as a reference for specific angles. Other angles I either estimate, or calculate and then have someone with working eyes set the saw for me. I would much rather do this myself. the idea of having two pivoting legs and measuring the distance between the ends, like Tom Fowle mentioned, is pretty good as long as you can accurately line up the measuring device with the ends of the legs. thanks for the idea Tom. Just need a calculator, which we all have on our computers, and the right formula and you are there. -- Blue skies. Dan Rossi Carnegie Mellon University.
