Dan This is what I've done in the past but used a standard drill to do the hole and then put one of those plastic inserts in and then a screw into that. Does the hammer drill make a hole quicker than a standard drill with a masonry bit? Also, can you describe a tapcon screw? I may know what they are but by another name.

I've been doing something similar in my basement, but opted for drilling into the concrete with a hammer drill and using Tapcon screws to screw the boards to the floor.
