Yes. And I would like to take the figure apart, put it transparent on
different backgrounds, build it up in a presentation, use it as a
high-quality figure in publication without caring for dpi. etc.

That is what I guessed. I thougth (simple as I am) that there should be
some way from 3D vector to 2D vector description.

Yes, but cif is rather applied to single molecules. Some of the features
I had generated would be gone, but basically I can. What would be the
advantage? Also jmol produces only jpeg or pov, not svg, or am I wrong?
