I haven't been active in the steering wheel swap scene on E46s in
some time now, but I seem to recall that 99-00 cars had a
single-stage airbag system, whereas later ones had dual-stage. This
means that some of the wiring is different; namely early cars had 1
connector out the back of the airbag, and later ones have two.

I seem to recall that any year wheel will work with the correct
wiring bits swapped around, but that a later bag may not work in the
earlier car.

I could be wrong, or things may have changed, but it's something to
look out for.

As for 3-spoke wheel styles, the 3-spoke non-M only came two ways;
with and without multifunction buttons, and with minor leather
differences. The M wheel came in several versions, though.

I would like the E46 M3 Competition steering wheel in my 99 328. Anyone know
about the possibility of this? Am I stuck paying big bucks at the dealer for
one?

Thanks,

Jon

Thanks Marshall. Yeah, what I'm looking for is the "basic" 3 spoke sport
wheel which I believe was only available for the '99 and '00 323/328 sedans.
I have a couple pics of it on my other computer....but there's a pic of one
in this ad on Autotrader:
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=232711069

If anyone has one....

Cheers.

I had staggered ps1s on the front and ps2s on the rear for the summer
without any problems, There may be a little more tramlining with this
setup but I am not sure. The front tires are now bald and will be
replaced with ps2s

I pulled the following codes yesterday after the CEL came on in my 1998
M3. I have just put a new head on the car, and when re-assembling
things, I noted that one of the injectors had a damaged lower o-ring. It
was not easy to get it back into the intake manifold with the o-ring
seated properly. Also, AFAIK, the oxygen sensors are original at 85K mi.

Suggestions on what to check/change next?

Thanks!

-Pete

No, those are new codes. I cleared the old junk after I drove it a bit
post head replacement.

I can record data. Which variables would be most useful to log? O2
sensor info? Throttle position? RPMs? Load? Coolant temp?

Thanks.
