Yes, I'm aware about this ability and found it inconvenient most of time. And 
it's also inconvenient to switch to such mode each time when I need to load 
thread over slow connection and switch options back all other time.
This option not substitude for requested feature.

Note that the BOINC forum lets users configure it to only show the  
last N posts. This isn't a substitute to having pages, but it's  
helpful enough to load the thread faster on a slow Internet connection.
