My comments yesterday were based on adding pagination *without* removing the
old useful features. That is, my idea was that those who were satisfied by the
previous features could simply set the page size extremely large. I would have
done so, but kept the settings to show only the original post and the 20 most
recent which has worked well for years given dial-up and visiting the forums
daily.
Others have commented on the jump to first unread, I observe that it does work
*if* the first unread is on the first page loaded. If not, navigating to
subsequent pages drops the unread marking on that and subsequent posts. That
obviously needs fixing.
I agree with what others have noted about navigation, but if a list of pages is
displayed it will need to have elipses when there are many pages. I'd rather
avoid pagination altogether, but being able to get to a desired page without
resorting to editing in the browser's address field is desirable.
