I meant the rules for parsing regexes.

Do you seriously think that reading the thought processes that led you
to misunderstand bjam will help someone more than 

   "quotes don't prevent backslashes from acting like escapes."

Well, I guess people needing help have different styles, but if I were
looking for quick help with this problem I would not have been drawn
to read your brain dump, and had I read it I doubt it would have been
much help.

I use these mailing lists as an information repository, too, and as
such I try to keep the information pruned down to what is useful.
Failing to discriminate the useful from flotsam and jetsam would
ultimately degrade the quality of the resource for everyone.
