Hi. Definitely, something is draining the battery faster in the MPower the lower it gets. Also, it seems odd, unless it is because of the way a lithium battery works, that the MPower doesn't show anything below nine percent. Once you hit that nine percent, it is all guesswork. Also, as Jim says, if you charge from a dead stop, it seems to take much longer. Don't get me wrong. I still think the MPower is worth the money. I just think perspective buyers should be made aware of the unit's quirks and also that they are not that much of a problem when considering the power of the entire unit. How many times did I get my bn classic down to zero percent and still use it for an hour or have it talk itself to death where it took over 40 minutes or more? I imagine the processor and memory drain things faster even if the unit is turned off. It would be nice if there was some things we could choose to turn off that might prolong battery life when the unit was off, but if that isn't the case, keep your charger near and humanware, make a car charger or recommend one that will work.

Hi, Paul, and etc.: same problems here. The battery is definitely the MPower's weak spot. I have sent my battery log to Humanware 3 times now, called twice and been put on hold for many many minutes, still no suggestions have come my way.

Hi, Sarah. I don't leave any cards in my bn for this reason. Even when I was using the bn classic, I never left a flash card in the unit. Those do make it drain faster. The bn classic doesn't drain quite as fast as the MPower. In 12 hours, I dropped six percent, from 18 to 12 percent. This was as of 11 pm last night. Now, at almost 5:30 pm today, I am at nine percent and I have not used the unit since last night other than to turn it on and check the battery status.
So, I have almost dropped ten percent without doing anything.
The engineers at humanware say that my battery does not need replacing.

Hi Paul,

Are you leaving a wireless card in your mPower overnight? I notice a larger battery drain when I leave cards in the unit, even though I'm running 6.11.

Hi, Pam. What I have noticed with mine is that it loses more of a
chargewhen it is off than does the bn classic when it is off. I don't know
why, but I can lose six percent or more even if my MPower is turned off and
I am not using it. I can read for half an hour and have it drop two points,
but when it is off, something more than the alarm must be at work here.
Perhaps the internal memory takes more than that in the classic bn.
