Richard, I have seen this scenario before actually, in which Active Stink disconnects after a short period of time; I have in the past wondered if it's to do with the version of USB on the desktop machine; i.e. does your desktop machine run USB 1.1 or 2? Other than that, I've not much more to offer you I'm afraid, and I wholeheartedly acknowledge Vicky to be the winner in this ludicrous game!! And I reckon that given that my job is in IT Deep Support, I really should have known better than to fiddle with something that I had got working correctly!!
Cheers. I did not get anywhere with a c3c4 reset. I tried a c1c4 shut down and when I hit c1c4 to bring it back, active sync worked as intended. I got on the internet, checked e-mail and explored the PK from Active Sync. About 8 minutes later, the old problem returned. I had left the PK plugged in while I began to write a simple thank you note. Then, the computer started alternating between the usb connect and disconnect sounds. Then there was a message about the hardware device not working correctly and active sync came up with the check box to stop it from looking for devices, etc. I tried re-sets again, to no avail. This is more than a little annoying. I don't suppose anyone from Humanware has any idea what might be the problem?
