I have never been able to set any of my machines up to do e-mail with my
cell phone and will probably not renew my contract with cingular when it
comes time to do so as the whole outfit have been worse than useless.
I have to say that the reception on that phone was 10 times better in
California than it has been here in Arizona or in Ohio.Mary Ellen Earls

Hi KC,
I think I got my phone up and running with the BN right after you canceled
your service. I don't know how much you remember from the setup process,
but, by chance, do you know what phone number you typed into the BN's phone
number field in the new connection configuration? If it was the number for
Earthlink, that might have been your problem. The number has to be *99# for
Cingular. I don't blame you at all for not wanting to deal with Cingular,
they seem to run at the first mention of the BN or anything else that has to
do with access technology. I just got the phone and set up the plan through
Cingular, then got help from people on this list with setting up the rest.
Now that I'm more familiar with how these things work, I'd be happy to work
with you privately, if you want to try again. I love being able to go
online anywhere with the BN, without having to be connected to a network.

Sarah et al,
When my son was here at Xmas, on leave from the Navy, we went to Cingular
and I bought a Nokia 6682 cellphone. Les had, very graciously, sent
directions on setting it up, using that Phone as a modem and I paid for the
data service.
The M-Power recognized the phone., but we could not get it to work, even
after doing the set-up in Connectivity.
Basically, the folks at these dealers know nothing and had both Paul and I
confused. Suffice it to say, it was too expensive to mess with on my own,
after Paul went back to Norf9olk. The phone was returned and the service
cancelled. I don't feel confident to go to Cingular, or anywhere else,
unless I really understand what I need and how to establish a working
cellphone line.
(Perhaps we can communicate on this subject privately, because, if all goes
well here, I'll be traveling this Summer and want to do my E-Mail and other
activities on the BN.)

Hi Rusty,
thank you for clarifying.
Actually, I'm deaf-blind but I am oral.
Is this particular Cingular sevrice for which you signed-on
something you would use with a M-Power QT braille unit or just
with a VoiceNote?
