Yes, Evelyn, I do understand what you're saying.
I tell you what I do which maybe helps a bit and that is that, when I'm just
jotting down notes and not referring to anything already written, I write
either at the beginning or end of a file. I only use the insert mode (in
the true sense) when I'm adding to something already written. In this way
at least I know where to find that note I've just written. I then sort them
into some kind of preference/needs to do!
It works well enough for me not to want to go back now.

Hi, Carol,
I'm not talking about the default at all here. I have no objections to
that. I just want more flexibility. When I'm taking notes and in the
situations I'm usually in, the defaul insert mode is highly risky for my
notes.
I have commented about this before, by the way.

Evelyn,
When using the BLT, even at the point where you could choose which mode to
use, I never got out of the old way of doing things. Now, though, with
the BN, I'm totally used to the way things work and really feel that it's
time to move on with the times! Every computer system I know now works
with insert modes and you have to say "overwrite" to overwrite a character
or certain characters. The most I'd suggest is that the overwrite mode
could be changed so that you can overwrite more than one letter, but
insert should certainly be the default, in my view.

Hi, Rhonda,
Well, the old Braille Lites, etc. had a continuous overwrite command.
Sometimes that is handy just as I still want an append mode.

Hello Flor:
I am not sure why an overwrite command would be used. You can use Ctrl
comma to delete a character, and then put the right letter back in.
That's about the best way I know to do it.
Best Regards,
Rhonda Clark
