Joseph,
Are you saying that the KGS cells are not as good as the older ones?

Hi there,
As Don said, this is related to what kind of braille display you have.
If you have a brand new mPower or a Classic purchased after 2005, you'll
have KGS cells, which has the plastic, curved cursor buttons.
If you have the mPower "transplant" or if your Classic was purchased prior
to 2005, you'll have Tieman cells, which has rubber cursor buttons. The
braille intensity item allows the power supply to change the voltage that is
passed to the display module. If you set the intensity to 3 or lower, the
voltage will be reduced. If you set it to 7 or above, the display will feel
firm. This setting does affect Tieman cells, but there is no significant
benefit for those who has KGS cells (although I've noticed some difference
on my unit). On the KGS cells, however, it does allow the cell to be more
"smooth" when you set the intensity to 3 or lower, but if you set the same
value on an mPower with the Tieman cells, you'll find that it is more smooth
and spongy.
HTH,
Joseph pddness. I've got this information directly from Andy (I think he
posted about this a couple months back).
