Hi all,

Rob, I'm replying to your message in which you pose the question as to
whether Activesync is really needed or not? Let me take one thing at
a time here.

First, one doesn't need activesync when downloading files from a web
site when in Keyweb. So as far as its applicability for this task
it's useless.

Second, since more people use the web for downloading files than
anything else, one might suppose that Activesync might be dispensed
with, except for the fact that many people use it to transfer files
between computers and their BN's. I personally find this mode of
transfer cumbersome and time consuming. I prefer to use my CF card
and a card reader.

Third, I have been asking for years now for Humanware to equip its
BrailleNotes with FTP. It's a much more user friendly, much more
fluid way to exchange files between devices. However nobody pays any
mind to me. <smile>

Finally, the only good use for Activesync is to do what it says it
does, synchronize two programs together, like the address book or the
planner. For this, it is great!

Judging by the time factor, it would seem that Activesync is on the
low end of the totem pole. It takes time to make a connection, fiddle
with the menus and wait for things to settle before transferring
files. If you use a CF or SD card, you can transfer the files quickly
and efficiently.
