Hi Janel:
In retrospect, I DO NOT SEE WHY these batteries CANNOT BE REPLACED by a
company such as Battery's Plus. This company can pretty much FIND JUST
ABOUT ANY BATTERIES one might need. They did REPLACE THE BATTERIES for me
in a Braille Lite a few weeks ago, and the Braille Lite is still working
away like a jack horse with no problems.
I have asked the same question of Humanware; the answer I got was not worth
much; it needs to be opened up in a clean environment, too many intricate
parts, etc.
Be that as it may, if it is a hard risk for you to take, then convince your
rehab counselor to let you send the stuff back to the surgical wards in
Concord, California. If warranty is a HUGE ISSUE for you, then the
BrailleNote hospital is your only choice.
They did a repair on my BrailleNote recently and screwed up big time. I had
to REBOOK her for yet another surgery--can't help wondering how painful the
surgery was for her having to go through it twice!! In fact, they almost
argued that the surgery was well done first time, but the notes I have kept
saved the day. They had UPS stop by to PICK HER UP, and it took another 2-3
weeks before she finally CAME home. She's looking good for now, but I'd
have to see for how long!!
Sincerely,
Olusegun
