Oh yeah, I discovered that by accident too. You can even do this when
Keyboard Learn is running.

That works, but it is tedious; just use 8-dot. I just discovered
something: to make the next character only 8-dot, press backspace-h and
you can use 8-dot on the next character you type. This avoids having to
press space with all commands.
