Hello all you Braille experts out there! I have been legally
blind my whole life but started losing more vision back in 2002.
so I decided to learn Braille. I learned grade 1 very quickly and
actually learned grade 2 pretty quickly as well except that I
have still never been able to get my reading speed up to where it
should be. Anyway, since I got my BN, I have learned more about
computer braille and the like but I have never learned the Nemath
code or really gotten very proficient at all the writing rules.
I read all these posts where you are all talking about all these
diferent braille codes and changes or possible changes in the
braille system and I just get a bit queasy. How can someone like
me who learned braille later in life and who is not an expert by
any means keep up with all the latest news in the world of
Braille? Is there an organization or a newsletter or website
where this kind of information is distributed and explained? I
know all this sounds silly to those of you who are so proficient
at Braille but I'm doing good just to read the Reader's Digest or
my e-mail in Braille. (grin) I really admire those of you who
have mastered all these codes.
Sincerely,
Nikki B
