Hi Ann and list:

You wouldn't have to purchase another Sandero GPS for your
trade-up BrailleNote, nor would you need to buy another
dictionary and thesaurus.

In the case of Sandero, you would just contact them with your new
unit's serial number and they'd issue you with a new product key.

In the case of the dictionary and thesaurus, Humanware would
provide you with a new product key, although they might even
install the package onto your trade-up unit for you.

Yes, these are important points to consider.

I've written to Maurice and some senior people at Humanware about
the deep concerns being expressed on the list about the policy
change not to offer maintenance agreements on units with Tieman
Braille displays any longer.

Regarding why Humanware offered transplants in the first place:

Well they probably either had been assured of, or expected,
Tieman to continue providing them with repair parts for several
years as at the date they decided to offer transplants.

Actually, a U. S. $2,200 trade-up offer to an Mpower with KDS
display from a transplant with Tieman display is probably a
pretty good value.

Its still $2,200, but I believe even an 18 cell display sells for
more than that off the shelf.

Take care.
