Lucy,
If you were working from an external drive (e.g. sd card, compact flash, usb
device) there's a remote chance to recovering some or all of the text. If it
was from the internal storage I'd have to say you're completely out of luck.
As for the clipboard, once something replaces what's on the clipboard, it's
gone.
