Alex: I am also trying to pair an Apex qt with IDevices.
I have a couple of questions: Once paired with the IDevice, do I need to use the Braille Keyboard, or can I simply invoke the normal QWERTY output. My concern is that the Function B command does not apparently support, the Braille chording commands, which I shouldn't have to use, if I simply use the normal keyboard emulator commands. The reason this comes up, is the large number of discussions where Braille chords, or dot combinations are discussed during the answers to these pairing questions. Try these steps: 1. On the apex, turn bluetooth off. Do a normal reset. 2. On the iPod (or iPhone, or whatever iTouch you are using - they all work the same way), go to settings. Select general, bluetooth, and turn bluetooth off by double tapping the bluetooth switch button. 3. Turn the iPod off by holding down the power button until vo says "slide to power off", then double tap to turn off (or just keep holding the power button). Once the iPod is completely off, turn it back on. 4. Now turn bluetooth back on on the apex and enter terminal mode, selecting bluetooth as the port. Make sure to manually turn bluetooth on before going into the terminal, as the apex sometimes fails to automatically turn it on. 5. On the iPod, go to settings, general, accessibility,VoiceOver, braille. You will get an alert about turning on bluetooth; tell it to turn it on. If that fails to bring up the apex, try a 5-second reset on the apex. That is, hold the reset button in for five seconds before releasing it. Please note that you do NOT hold any keys down for this reset. Once the apex comes back to the main menu, try going to terminal again and searching for displays on the iPod. If all that fails, let me know and we can try a few other options. Also, if either of you have skype, contact me off-list if you would like me to try to walk you through all this on a skype call.
