Dear Michele,

I happen to know that you were quoted $66 plus postage by one of our
Australian consultants. it is a spare part, and understandably not part
of your warranty. I believe you were also advised to ensure the AC
adaptor was in fact faulty before placing an order for your adaptor. You
were even asked, on the phone and via email, if you could test an
adaptor from another Apex user before committing to buy a new one. This
is, I believe, a fair demonstration of good service to you, the client.

HumanWare hasn't a problem with you expressing your views in a public
forum, but please ensure that they are indeed factual.

Kind regards,

Subject: [Braillenote] HumanWare's Prices

Hi again listers. This is my last post for the day (smile).

I have a bit of a gripe with HumanWare's prices. I only got my
APEX in late november or early December and already I'm having a
problem with either the power adapter or the connection port. I
called the Australian office to find out the price of a new
adapter and got told that a new one would cost $75 Australian,
plus GST, plus postage. I am a pensioner and receive no other
income, apart from the occasional singing gig I can obtain. It
is very difficult for any blind person to obtain employment in
South Australia. Yet HumanWare, who claim to be a business for
the blind, charge exorbitant prices for products which only go so
far in meeting the requirements of their clients. I am thinking
of sending the adapter back for testing but will still need to
purchase a spare. I am not happy.

Cheers!

Michele
