I too concur that attaching a machine to an electronic timer is no more different than attaching it directly to the wall and flipping the switch on the machine. I have a digital timer from Intermatic DT-27 which allows me to set multiple schedules. It is rated for 1800W and there is some sort of electromagnetic AC controlled relay inside it since you can hear a click inside the timer when you push the on/off keypad button.
I think the correlation of the timer and machine failures may be due to user error. I actually fried the pump of my Silvia machine with a timer since I inadvertently left the brew switch on the night before when the machine was off. Woke up the next morning with water all over the place and a dead pump. :( On Nov 8, 11:01 am, Ira <[email protected]> wrote: > >>Hi guys, I am sure this has been covered many times, but I was told it > >>wasn't a good idea to put the espresso machine on a timer, due to the > >>shocking effect of closing the unit un-naturally (was told this by my > >>seller/supplier).
