Yeah I'm just getting antsy because mine's been down since last wednesday. Hopefully the parts will be in tomorrow. I'm wondering now if I'm getting the right part. Mine was one of the first bII's I got it in 2005. They said it used a different part number. I guess I'll know soon enough if it's the correct part

Since you were still getting hot water out of your brew boiler, your sensor likely failed to the "call for heat" mode. My boiler was luke warm, like TWG's, so mine probably failed to the "turn off the heat" mode. The AKO-14901 NTC thermocouple is "proprietary" to AKO's thermostats, i.e., they claim the thermostat won't work without the specific thermocouple, although I'm willing to bet that if I could get the specs on the thermocouple I could find a suitable "after-market" version that would work just fine. I just wanted my good old Brewtus to work again. I don't need PID, so I couldn't see spending $235.74, plus shipping, plus the effort to install the new thermostat, relay, and thermowell to simply replace a thermocouple that merely required disconnecting 2 wires, removing the old sensor and installing the new one. To me that's like buying a new desk lamp to replace a burned out lightbulb. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Brewtus" group.
