Dan is probably right. New gaskets take a little time to "settle in"...and over time you'll find that you can get past 6 O'clock towards 5 as the gasket gets older and worn. I've been through several gaskets over the years on my BII. My current gasket goes to about 5:30 right now, so it's about time to replace it again.
Another very remote posibility is that you may have the wrong thickness gasket.
