This is in agreement with Ben's strong recommendation of the Weiss
Distribution Technique: This is just my idea, not established fact. Or if it
is established fact, I have not read about it. Another reason to use WDT:
If your grinder discharges the ground coffee horizontally into a doser,
(Mini Masser) the coffee will be distributed according to the weight or size
of the particles. Grinders do not grind the coffee all at the same size. I
have not been able to figure out if the light particles of coffee go further
than the heavier particles, or maybe the heavier particles go further. But
if you make only a few espressos per day and grind only enough for each
espresso, when you dose the coffee into your portafilter, the coffee will
not be evenly distributed: you will have fine particles in one area, and
coarse particles in another area. By stirring the coffee in the portafilter,
(WDT) you will mix the fine with the coarse.
If this is bad information, please let me know.
