I had a feeling that switching from my monsooned Malabar to decaf wouldn't
produce an ideal shot on the first go, but the main thing I wanted to show
was the pump behavior. I know that water is flowing from the time the pump
is activated, but if I strive for a 25 second shot as it is, the bulk of
the extraction seems rushed. And having so much of the extraction at lower
pressure is definitely affecting flavors, which are less pronounced. Anyone
else have a pump that rattles your whole drip tray? I think that's going to
get really old.
