The ziptie is normal from the factory. I had some pumps last a couple of years, and others that failed at a few months. Also burned one or two out when the water pickup floated and the pump ran dry, because my low water shutoff switch was not fitted with a spring at the factory.
Having a gasket fail as you opened the OPV makes me think it's probably original. Any chance it's sticking open? It doesn't necessarily "look" bad--but I'd try giving it a good cleaning, use a bit of food grade grease if you have it on the gasket, and see if it helps. Do your setting/testing against a blind PF so that you're not guessing on whether the tamp of the shot is right or not. My money is on the OPV sticking open. b Sent from my apple IIe On Mar 5, 2013, at 16:46, Benjamin Piff <[email protected]> wrote: > Dang, I just opened up the OPV and the gasket poked out the side holes and > broke as I was unthreading the screw.
