i have no idea whatsoever if it is actually the case, but i would
like to assume that both Gore and Bush have talked to each other
several times in the last 9 days. certainly if i thought that publicly
making such an offer to my opponent was a good idea i would call him
and discuss it first. it is my experience that fully-informed people
make better decisions, regardless of how 'better decision' is defined.
