It is possible to buy a multi-region DVD player. Of course, to play DVDs from 
the UK in the USA, you'd also need a digital decoder to convert from PAL to 
NTSC. It's an expensive set-up, but it can be done. (I'm not sure if 
multi-standard DVD players exist.)
