Typical of being the Nerd From Hell, I could not resist in noting that
adjustments have to be made to velocity based upon the differential in air
pressure (and Gravity- however minor) falling from 8,000 feet to ground
zero, which is not factored into any standard formulas, and second, the
buoyancy of a human body has to be adjusted based upon the current salinity
of the ocean at that particular time. Dos anyone know if salinity is
affected by climate or season? 

Also the boundaries set by the question do not forbid James Bond hitting an
iceberg, instead of open water - after all, Titanic hit one in the Atlantic.
And what if he fell in the Sargasso Sea?
