Fighter pilots typically black out after a few seconds at about 9 g. The
highest sustained acceleration anyone has been known to undergo was about
40 g in one of the rocket sled tests. Some people have survived a brief
acceleration of IIRC about 210 g (calculated) as a result of the sudden
stop after a fall or running a vehicle head-on into a stationary object.
