Dived in late on this thread...
Best period of standalone X-files too, they were confident enough to be
bold, but not so far up their own arses that it got stupid. Some really
clever self-parody, tongue-in-cheek stuff and bold writing. Excellent.
That particular episode was genius, even if it was a cross between Elephants
Man and Mask with a healthy dose of 50s schlock... "I Was A Teenage Mutant
Crime Suspect!"
