New Zealand granted the vote to women in 1893
Australia (at a federal level) was in 1902 (1 year after Aust. gained
independence btw)
although the state of South Australia granted the vote in 1894, while Victoria
dithered until 1908 (despite having Australias strongest sufferage movement!)
btw, i'm sure i've read somewhere that Utah granted the vote to women in the
1860's, only to take it away again a couple of decades later ... so would that
qualify as a first at a state level, if it is true, i wonder ...
