I, and I think Kat as well, do see differences in "badness" between the 
actions of the SU and the USA. Our views however are somewhat more nuanced

You haven't been reading what I wrote, have you? The self-defence I'm 
talking about is the build-up of forces at the Iron Curtain, which was done 
to defend the Soviet Union's sphere of influence. Whether the people of 
Hungary (or any other country) wanted the US to invade is something 
entirely different.

You really should read that post again, John. I never claimed I consider 
myself "fascinating", I said I was fascinated. More precisely, I said 
"Weyoun *is* one of my favourite characters on ST:DS9. I find him quite 
fascinating...".
