I guess it all depends on from which side of the barrel you are looking at the
issue.

I'm not aware of the reason why, or the way how the Russians got into Cuba but
the Cubans at the time seemed rather happy with the Partisans (aided by the
Russians) rumbling in and throwing the Americans out. There also seem to be more
countries that are more in for straight out Russian intervention and military
aid than for the US meddling (CIA interference) behind the scenes. (Not
condoning anything here, just adding a bit of colour to John's picture) I'm sure
others are much more into this subject then I ever will be. Too little
background I'm afraid.
