Interestingly enough, the very first nation to recognize the government of
Fidel Castro was..... the United States. In fact, my comparative
constitutionalism professor was dancing in the streets of Havanna the day
Castro came to power.
Castro had made an awful lot of promises, particularly regarding upholding
the Constitution of 1948. Of course, they all turned out to be lies - but
we did not know that then.
