I was wondering the same, actually. It sounds like what I could get for
$3 around here, but hey, I'm in the same state. I noticed on a trip in
1996 that the prices at McDonald's increased as we headed east and hit
something of a high on I-81 in Virginia. Prices may have been a little
bit higher than there in New England, I don't remember for sure. (Also, I
think that once we got into territory where there were Friendly's
restaurants, we eschewed McDonald's, and that happened somewhere in
Pennsylvania and continued until we were on our way back going through
Pennsylvania again.)

I've noticed that the price can vary from one to another in Austin by as
much as $0.30 or $0.40 on the Extra Value Meals. And, of course, the one
that is most convenient for me most of the time is as pricey as they get
around here. (There's one a little closer that might be a bit cheaper,
but they have historically not handled special orders as well, and there's
a bunch of construction between my house and that one that I'd rather not
deal with for something as trivial as saving a few cents on McDonald's.)
