So what are you planning to do with the Bush Tax Rebate? (He wants you to
spend it. WHich is a good reason not to if you don't like him.)

If you love Bush policies, what are you going to buy?

I've thought of spending mine on environmental technology stuff (say a
shopping spree in Real Goods or a similar store with lotes of SOLAR POWERE
goodies. Less ee, guaranteed-forever rechargeables (at least they will
take care of disposal when you trade them in, anyway)w/ a solar powered
charger; one of those hand crank/solar radios, which are darn USEFUL
around here for when the Big One hits...organic cotton clothing products
made by people who actually earn enough to live on (not sweat shop
goods!) ...

There's the donation route. GIve it away to the poor. Well, give it to a
church that guarnatees every penny will help the poor. THis helps salve
your conscience because the poor get no rebate and the whole tax cut thing
is to benefit the RICH!

Of course, there isn't a charity out there that doesn't want it. YOu could
try one of those outfits fighting for living wages for local sevice
workers. (OK if the succedd a McDonalds Hamburger might cost 2x as much,
but people eat to much unhealthy food anyway, and the cows might thank you
if hurting fast-food reduced demand for beef, which right now means
speeded up slaughter lines get them cut up alive (yeech!) )

THere's the investment route. Self-interest but not *exactly* what Bush
wants...save for your retirement, put in interst bearing account .(How
much do you need to start a Roth IRA? More than that I think, and regular
contributions. I already have 401k, but i need to maximiz take home pay to
pay the rent and it's hard to deal with putting more in...)

I dunno, either giving it away or using it for environmental things (or
both - give to Sierra Club?) appeals to me because as most of you probably
know, Bush's policies make me sick and half wish I could move to another
country just to not be his so called constituent.

Kristin

but I like buying things too, so i am an evil hypocrite...sacrificing it
to make a political statement won't be easy. I buy clothes and CDs, but
using a present from that **** bush just makes me uncomfortable. The money
might help me buy greener products than I could afford otherwise...
