If I can add my 2cp: When Charlie Bell left (loudly of course, he had to tell us HOW
HE FELT, then shut the door so we couldn't reply (Like I'm doing now to him ;-))) he
said that he felt this list should be like a pub conversation, friendly, maybe some
disagreements, but generally in a nice way.
I disagree with that. Why should I NOT say something because it MIGHT offend someone?
Yeah I agree with the listequitte that personnal attacks are bad and wrong, that the
replies should stick with the ideas. That hasn't stopped people from 'perceiving '
attacks on their character or religion or whatever.
All I mean is, yeah it'd be nice to meet any of you. I certainly wouldn't want to
introduce myself and get a pop on the nose for it. But if I happened to be in the
Netherlands and ran into Joreen and Sonya I wouldn't pull out info packets about gun
rights and the benifits of nuclear energy. I'd just shake their hands, invite them to
lunch, and ask where the cannabis and prostutues are. (What? You don't live in that
county? Oh, nevermind).
I have a friend I've known for 2/3 of my life. We've done stuff together that you
would get you thrown in jail, (no not that kind of stuff). I know things about him
that's he's done since he was married that would make his wife kick him out. (No it's
not adultry). But it wasn't until this election that I found out just how much
completely opposite his is from me politics-wise. There were other things we knew
about each other that we knew we were on the opposite sides of the issue, but this
completely blew me away. After we called each other names, we bought more beer and
never talked about it again.
So all I really want to say is get some tougher skin, and watch the subjects you don't
like and use that trash button.
