So, the final chapter in the Brin-L diplomacy saga has been written.
The treacherous Tandu acheived domination of the galactic cluster.
Expect many a gnawed bone to litter the spaceways for generations to
come.

The key turning point in the game was the inability of the northern
powers--Earthclan, Jophur, and Gubru--to unite against the Tandu/Tytlal
axis. The Gubru attempted to exterminate the Earthclan during their
re-organizatation phase and grab up enough centers to counter the Tandu
and their Tytlal lackeys on their own. However, this was a serious
miscalculation. The Gubru could not build any new units from their
ill-gotten conquests since they had to occupy their home centers to
prevent a Tandu invasion by land. At one point they had three extra
supply centers that were unused, simply because they could not vacate
their home to build.
This was a disaster. The Earthclan fleets that bottled up the T/T at
the Gibralter wormhole had to be disbanded due to lack of support, but
no Gubru ships could be built to take over the blockade. Earthclan's
only hope for survival was to turn on the Gubru and try to hold on to
the few supply centers left. Ultimately this proved futile. The T/T
fleet poured into the Atlantic sector, enabling them to get the
leverage neccesary to crack the Jophur out of their fortifications.
And the crumbling Gubru infrastructure was now vulnerable to overland
attack. Eventually the vicious Tandu saw their opportunity to stab the
Tytlal for a solo victory and grab 19 centers.
This game illustrated the twin principles of Diplomacy: tactics and,
well, diplomacy. Failure to analyze the tactical situation leads to a
failure in diplomacy. And when a power reaches ~12 centers, then the
other powers MUST put aside their differences or they will all be
destroyed. The personal goals of the weaker powers must be put in
second place because pursuing those goals will allow the stronger power
to win and end the game.
Well, that about wraps up Brin-L1 unless other players want to comment
in public. I suppose Alberto could post his end-of-game summary to the
main list as well.
Now....when does Brin-L2 start....?
