The problem he saw with this wasn't the word 'anniversary.'  "911" is what 
most Americans dial in order to get emergency services: police, fire 
department etc. It is a uniquely American joke that everyone here would get, 
and most non-Americans wouldn't.  Since we also write our dates 9/11/01 
(month/day/year), that's where she got 911. 

FYI: FoxNews is now reporting mortality numbers of 20,000+ between both WTC 
towers and around 10,000 in the shopping mall beneath.
