Here's why people are giving contradictory answers about comparing the athletes of yesteryear to the athletes of today.
Do we simply snatch Sandy Koufax with our time machine, and drop him at center field with no preparation? Or do we snatch Sandy Koufax as a teenager and train him using modern methods? Makes a difference. By objective standards, runners and weightlifters of today can run faster and lift more than athletes in the past, so they are superior to the athletes of the past. But why? Because they have access to modern medicine, training, diet, freedom from childhood infectious disease, and lack of cultural barriers. If the athletes of the past had all those things then they'd be comparable to today's athletes. If not, not. ===== Darryl Think Galactically -- Act Terrestrially __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Make a great connection at Yahoo!
