This link is to an article about some of the hoaxes that were spread after September 11th. My favorite one is the request by NASA that everyone step outside with a lit candle on September 14 for a satellite photo. I work at a government facility that has almost 3000 people in it and the director forwarded that email as an "official directive from NASA". The Director looked fairly stupid considering that it was already exposed as a hoax before she forwarded the email.
