This crash of an Airbus A320 was very quickly ruled out as NOT a terrorist attack. It was caused by structural failure after hitting severe air turbulence from another jumbo-sized aircraft. It is believed that the aircrew overstressed the aircraft while trying to counteract the wake turbulence and either lost an engine or part of the tailplane. Investigation still going on. > (b) who was sending the Anthrax? Still noone identified but the anthrax letters are almost certainly NOT linked to Al Qaeda or Osama bin Laden. Instead, suspicion is that it has been done by home-grown American loonie, quite possibly a research scientist or someone connected to a research facility. Very little about the investigation has made the (Oz) papers recently. FBI has just raised the reward for information to about 2.5 million dollars. They believe the sender is an adult male with a "scientific background/work history" who "has a level of comfort in and around the Trenton, NJ area due to present or past association". An anti-abortion campaigner who is on the run and one of the top-10 most wanted in US has claimed responsibility for sending the anthrax, according to Salon.com.
