Ask the someone to fix a registry problem. Same. At least with linux, if
you are willing to read a little documentation, you can do it.

WinAMP is available for linux. It's called xmms.

There are good CAD programs for linux. Do you know how much AutoCAD
costs?  QCad and Varkon are free on linux: ( http://www.qcad.org/ ,

For every type of program on Windows, there are free alternatives for
Linux.

I said "But for home productivity use, linux can do 99% of what you
can do with Windows". That clealry does not include games. And I don't
play many games, so I can't say much about it. But note that there are
alternatives to Direct X on linux:
