We get 110+ F heat here occasionally, and I've experienced 100 F heat in places
where the humidity is very high, and that's much worse IMO. Completely
stifling; miserable.

I was actually backpacking in 110 F heat several years ago in the mountains east
of here - Henry Coe State Park. My son, about thirteen at the time, was with
me. We were close to the point of giving up and heading home when the kid had
the idea of taking an extra T-shirt, soaking it in water, and wearing it over
his head, held on with a ball cap. He also soaked the shirt he was wearing.
Smart kid. We were able to finish the 1600 foot climb we were on then drop down
to a small lake. The swimming was mahhvelous. I'll never go to Coe in June
again though...
